Some things look stupid immediately and eternally, such as neck and face tattoos. Some things look cool immediately and eternally, such as Mark Twain's hair. The Beatles tho, yeah, like true artists they travelled all over the inner cosmos, exploring the full spectrum of human sublimity and absurdity. Paul McCartney's mullet hairstyle, for example, a period he went thru in the 70's, looked so stupid that it made me realize I know nothing about the man. What a dismal misadventure that was.

John Lennon's ultra long hair, parted in the middle, while wearing those round granny glasses, it was all quite hip and interesting at the time. But in retrospect it looks terrible. Lennon was an aggressive rocker, not a gay college professor. His best look was in 1965. I think he finally knew that. He was going back to that look shortly before he died.
