Frizzy Hair

Curly or frizzy hair can be hard to manage. Harder still is trying to turn your frizzy, curly hair into a smooth, straight and silky looking hairdo. One way of turning curly hair straight, is to get it professionally straightened; however this is fairly drastic option and not one for everybody. The easiest way to achieve straight and silky hair is to blow dry it this way yourself at home.

Combat Frizzy Hair With These Essential Tips

Highlighted hair - Frizzy hair should avoid super light highlights.

Use a non-ammonia hair lightener and keep the highlights away from the hairline. Try highlights in the very front and the baby hair around the face to make hair look smoother and silkier. Also try a warm all-over color or lighten-up the base color before applying highlights. Non-ammonia products leave hair in much healthier condition.

Warm color tones are also great ideas because they reflect more light, making hair look better.

Cure Frizzies Everytime

After washing your hair, add a small amount of Natural Vegetable Glycerin to your mousse or gel. If you prefer to add your styling products to dry hair, mix glycerin with a small amount of water. Run through the dry strands.

Correct the pH of your Hair

After rinsing the conditioner out of your hair, use the following as a final rinse. Fill 1/2 cup of apple vinegar and 1/2 cup water.Vinegar corrects the pH of your hair and actually smoothes the cuticle

Try These Tricks

Less Frizzy
Always rinse with the coldest water you can stand after using a shampoo and conditioner for straight hair. The cold water "locks down" the hair cuticle

Smooth and shiny - Use a weekly "hair mask." Mix one egg to one part mayo and one part olive oil. Make a paste and apply to hair. Wrap hair in a towel and allow to work at least 30 minutes. Rinse out and shampoo and condition as usual.

Blow dry methodically. Use a big round brush that will allow you to smooth your hair as you dry. Always blow in a downward motion. Dry one section at a time.

Keep the Frizzies at Bay

Do not rub your hair with a towel when wet. Instead, let your hair set in a towel for 10 minutes, then take the towel off.

Air dry your hair instead of using a blow dryer or hair dry. This cuts down on split ends. Using a curling iron or hot rollers is acceptable, but this can also damage your hair if used long term..
